In 5 spoken communication Paul enunciates the fundamental generality of the Christian life: "You are not your own" (1 Cor. 6:19). Some of the Corinthian Christians were acting like they were autonomous, as if their lives had not been bought and paid for beside the loved blood of Christ. Because they neglected this principle, they were active sexual immorality. Paul tells them that or else they ought to "glorify God next to your body" (v. 20). But this generality has broader applications than just sexual status.

You are not your own boss. Because we are Christ's, we are significantly actuated as workers--it is the Lord Christ that we spoon over (Col. 3:24). This means doing all that is awaited of us, and more. We will be echt and fiducial because we liking and admiration Him who is our farthest superior.

You are not your own moneyman. Both our aptitude to formulate coinage (Deut. 8:18) and our wealth themselves are gifts from God, so that we can be freehearted on all juncture (2 Cor. 9:11). Since our riches belongs to Another, we larn to be exultant with it or in need it, by Christ's heart (Phil. 4:11-13).

You are not your own attorney. The old proverb, "He who represents himself has a clown for a client," could never be truer than in heaven's panel. If we stomach unsocial in that docket, we will undoubtedly be convicted (Rom. 3:23; 6:23). But impart God, we have an Advocate with the Father, who is effective, for He pleads the intrinsic worth of His own existence and His modification (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 John 2:1-2). Wise clients will pursue the advice of their attorney.

Boss, banker, lawyer-in all of these roles and more, Christ is admirably successful, and you and I are unhappy failures. Let's listen in to Paul and cessation trying to assume these jobs. To do so is to libel the Lord who can do them so by a long way greater.
